Transforming an Outdated Wooded Kitchen into a Modern Masterpiece
Revamping an old-fashioned, wood-heavy kitchen into a sleek, modern space can be an exciting challenge. Recently, we transformed such a kitchen using Belsay woodgrain doors in Indigo, an Ice Crystal worktop, and Malmo Marble flooring, completely reinventing the look while embracing contemporary elegance.“
Stripping Back to the Basics
The project began by stripping the kitchen back to its original shell. Years of wear had left the walls in poor condition, so we took the opportunity to rebuild and plaster. This step ensured the room had a clean, fresh foundation for the modern transformation.
Modernizing the Cabinetry: Belsay Woodgrain Doors in Indigo
Once the structure was sound, we introduced Belsay woodgrain doors in Indigo to bring texture and depth. The rich Indigo colour modernized the space, providing contrast with the other lighter elements and giving the room a sophisticated edge.
Adding Elegance: Ice Crystal Worktop
We paired the dark cabinetry with an Ice Crystal worktop to reflect light and add a sleek, polished finish. The worktop’s brightness balances the deeper tones of the cabinetry, making the kitchen feel airy and open.
Grounding the Space: Malmo Marble Flooring
The Malmo Marble flooring completed the look with its soft veining and luxurious feel. This marble-like pattern tied the space together, providing continuity and a sense of timeless sophistication.
Finishing Touches: Hardware and Lighting
Sleek, matte black hardware and warm, recessed LED lighting finished the space, enhancing the materials and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The Result
With Belsay woodgrain doors, an Ice Crystal worktop, and Malmo Marble flooring, this modern kitchen feels fresh, elegant, and inviting. By combining rich textures and modern elements, we achieved a harmonious space that balances warmth with contemporary design.
A modern kitchen transformation is all about contrasts, clean foundations, and the thoughtful pairing of materials. Whether starting from scratch or updating an older space, these design principles can help create a kitchen that feels both modern and timeless.
