Kitchens A Place To Cook & Socialise
Our kitchens are a place where often we not only cook but also socialise. Therefore creating a kitchen design which offers functionality, creative design and makes use of the space is an important factor.
Kitchen Islands
Kitchen Islands have become more and more popular over the years. Many homeowners are opting for an island as a place to sit with the family and socialise. Many people have moved towards adding kitchen extensions which are open plan, making the island an important feature. The islands not only offer more cooking and preparation space, they actually create a boundary between the cooking area and the living area. Some people prefer to just have the island as a seating area, whilst others house their sink and other appliances within it. Most Kitchen islands incorporate seating areas, even small islands can usually incorporate a pair of bar stools.
Recent trends tend to have a contrast of colours between the island and the rest of the kitchen units. Getting the right lighting is also important for your island, it can certainly make it the centrepiece of the kitchen.
A under-counter fridge is or wine chiller is a great addition with larger islands. Guests can help themselves to drinks without disturbing the person doing the cooking.

Multifunctional Kitchens
Assessing all your needs is important for your kitchen design. Look at what you like and dislike about your current one. For example, more storage, better appliances, this will help you gauge what is important for your new design. Another important thing to consider is the space, perhaps consider if the area needs opening up more or extending. Often one of the most common work is removing walls between kitchen and dining areas to offer more space, creating an open plan feel.
Look at how you want to use your space, is it just an area for preparing food? Do you want a multifunctional area where you can entertain and socialise?
