What is an example of complementary colours when considering a new kitchen?
Complementary colour schemes for the ktichen generally consist of various groups of colours which emphasise each other. These tend to be ones at the opposite end of the colour wheel, for example red and green.
Red and green is a good example of a complementary colour pair, however this extends way beyond basic or original tones. As there are many different shades and of red, from pale pink to deep maroon, which can complement all the shades of green, from soft pine to dark forest green.
Designing your kitchen what does a complementary colour scheme involve?
When looking at the colour scheme for your kitchen, using two contrasting colours as the primary colour in a room, for example red and green, or yellow and purple. Other accent colours of these can be incorporated into the scheme, but the two opposing colours should be the focal point.
Contrasting colours are great for creating a colourful boost, however you can use these in softer tones if you want a less bolder look for your kitchen area. Adding various pops of colour with your cushions, lights and throw overs can also be a good way of doing this.
Paint, wallpaper, kitchen furniture, furnishings and accessories can all be used to create a complementary kitchen colour scheme. You must ensure that the contrasting colours are used in conjunction with each other.
