Cleaning kitchen cabinets
The kitchen is the must busiest room in the house. It has to cope with knocks, spills and a build ups of grease from cooking. Keeping your kitchen cabinets in good condition is easy using elbow grease to help prevent a build ups of grime.
Kitchen cabinets require regular cleaning, Ideally wiping down the surfaces at least once every other week to help remove the build-up of dirt and grease. A deep clean should really be carried out every couple of months, to tackle the more deeper levels of dirt and grease.
Choosing the right products to clean your kitchen cabinets is equally as important.
Painted Kitchen Cabinets
After having your kitchen painted, you will need to keep it clean so the paint keeps its shine.
Tools to keep the units clean
- Microfibre cloth
- Warm water
- Non-abrasive cleaning solution (washing up liquid works well)
Choosing the right cleaning products
With painted units the paint can be easily lifted if the wrong type of cleaning products are used. Before starting any cleaning its always best to check with your kitchen manufacturer about what cleaning products they would recommend.
2. Patch testing
Testing the cleaning solution on a small inconspicuous area can be a good idea, if in any doubts about the cleaning products. Microfibre cloths dipped in warm soapy water which has had excess water removed is a good option.
3. Wiping cabinets
Painted cabinets, can be wiped over daily to help prevent build up’s of stubborn stains and grease.
Wooden cabinets
If you have wood kitchen cabinets, ideally you want to create a vinegar solution for cleaning. By mixing a cup of white vinegar along with a cup of water, this can create a cleaning solution which is mild to use and perfect for the wooden kitchen.
The cleaning solution
- 1 cup of white vinegar
- 1 cup of water
- Microfibre cloth
- Spray bottle
Mix it up
Mix the white vinegar and water together to create your solution then put in the spray bottle
Spray your cleaning solution on the cabinets and wipe over carefully with a microfibre cloth in order to remove any stains or spills.
Laminate units
Laminate kitchen cabinets are probably one of the easiest to clean. These can be cleaned with a multi-purpose cleaning spray and microfibre cloth to wipe away all the grease and marks from the surface.

- Microfibre cloth are required
Simply spray a little over your cabinet doors and wipe over using the microfibre cloth. Its advised to do this once a week to prevent build ups of grime.
Glossy cabinets
For cabinets with a glossy finish, simply buff them with a dry microfibre cloth, this will help to prevent unsightly streaks from showing.
