Design ideas for small kitchens
The kitchen acts as one of the main spaces in a home and we understand the frustration especially in designing small kitchens that many of us have to work with. Utilising your kitchen space to it’s full potential is something that many home owners struggle to do, especially if it is small. However with some expert space saving solutions and layout tips there are a few solutions that can help create your dream kitchen.
Selecting the colour scheme for your kitchen
One of the most popular ways to open up a small kitchen is to carefully select the colour scheme. Light and reflective colours create the illusion of a larger room, this dies not mean you are limited with colours however, mirrors and windows also can be a huge factor in opening up the room, so it is suggested that light blinds, or large gap blinds can make a big difference in a slightly darker room.
Add fun lighting into your kitchen space. Lighting can play a huge part in the feel of a room and a light feature that grabs attention can distract from the size of the room. Perhaps you are fond of a more fancy ceiling light or incorporating lights along shelves with exposed bulbs, whatever fits your personal aesthetic can all help in opening up the room.
Hanging hooks can be a great modern looking storage solution and decor all in one. Hanging hooks are most often used to hold mugs or cups, they utilise your wall space acting as decor alongside being practical as it removes clutter from benches or cabinets.
Paint the ceiling. Painted ceilings are becoming an increasingly popular trend, creating the illusion that a small kitchen is taller than it is actually is as your guests eyes will be immediately drawn up. If you are feeling very bold, a glossy ceiling may be a step forward for you, just be aware it works best on very smooth surfaces and with the right tools for painting a ceiling.
